SGT. HEATHER TAYLOR

Heather Taylor is a homicide sergeant with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department and is the President of the Ethical Society of Police where she advocates for police accountability.  In 2016, Sgt. Taylor authored the Ethical Society of Police’s 115-page evaluation of SLMPD. It detailed racial discrimination in the community and internally with arrests, racial profiling, promotions, hiring, and discipline. Upon retiring from the police force, she intends to pursue a law degree.

Workshop: Sgt. Taylor will participate in the law enforcement workshop on bridging the gap between the community and police in collaboration with retired US Marshall and retired Jackson Chief of Police, Robert Moore, Mississippi police chiefs, and members of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives. The workshop will engage student participants in challenging conversations about the state of law-enforcement and its impact on communities of color. Student participants will then help lead the second session, Lunch with Law Enforcement.
