LaRhonda Wilson

LaRhonda L. Wilson is an Associate Professor of Sociology at St. Louis Community College – Florissant Valley Campus.  She is the Program Coordinator for the Sociology and Anthropology programs and teaches Criminal Justice.  LaRhonda is also the Service Learning Coordinator for the campus.  In these positions, she teaches, schedules courses, mentors and advises students and faculty.  LaRhonda has connected students to environmental activities, reentry populations, services for children (and families), communities of poverty, city government, and much more.  These activities enhance classroom learning experiences by incorporating volunteer efforts in students’ local communities.

LaRhonda is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, Lincoln University Alumni Association, Missouri Campus Compact, The Missouri Sociological Association, and the American Sociological Association.  LaRhonda has been acknowledged by Iota Phi Lambda for their Apple for the Teacher Award, Salute to Excellence in Education Award by the St. Louis American Newspaper, 30 Leaders in their 30’s by North County, Incorporated and an Unsung Shero by Organization for Black Struggle.

Professor Wilson is well known on campus for being compassionate in the classroom and engaging students.  Students are encouraged to participate in local and campus events, the political process, their social environment and community service.  Professor Wilson is very involved in our local politics; serving as grassroots campaign manager.  She is also noted as a community activist.

LaRhonda earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Master of Arts in Sociology and Criminal Justice from Lincoln University.

LaRhonda is the proud mother of Serenity L. Wilson-Mitchell.
