he 2021 National Youth Summit on Education, Justice, and Leadership launches its World Youth Conference in February with Debate-Centered Instruction Webinars.

The informative Zoom Seminar conducted by Robert Litan, Brookings Non-Resident Senior Fellow and Author of the new book: Resolved: Debate Can Revolutionize Education and Help Save our Democracy introduced nearly 200 educators about Debate-Centered Instruction Scholar (DCI) and how to become a certified debate centered teacher. They learned how education pioneers in Boston and Chicago are revolutionizing education by using debate-related concepts, even through remote settings, to dramatically improve student engagement and educational performance.

Registration for the DCI webinar is now closed. Registration for the DCI Virtual Summer Institute will remain open until July 15th, 2021.   

Robert Litan is a Non-Resident Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution, where he has previously been a Senior Fellow on staff, and Vice President and Director of Economic Studies. His current research focuses on federal regulation, entrepreneurship, and a broad range of economic policy subjects. Litan is also a practicing attorney, was previously a partner, Of counsel and associate with two Washington, D.C. law firms, and served during the first term of the Clinton Administration as Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the Antitrust Division of the Justice Department. Litan is the author of the revolutionary book

Resolved, Debate Can Revolutionize Education and Help Save Our Democracy.

Les Lynn is the founder and chief of Argument-Centered Education, established in 2013 to build educators’ capacity to produce college-ready performance for all students.  ACE is working with the Chicago Public Schools Office of Teaching and Learning, helping it “debatify” its curricular offerings to its more than 600 schools.  ACE is also working in an intensive, school-embedded way with more than 300 teachers from fourteen middle and high schools in Chicago and its suburbs, Northwest Indiana, and New York City.

Mike Wasserman is the Executive of the Boston Debate League whose mission is to integrate argumentation and competitive debate into public schools in Boston to develop critical thinkers ready for college, career, and engagement with the world around them. Mike earned his BA in Public Policy from Brown University and his MBA in non-profit management from Boston University and is an experienced non-profit leader dedicated to supporting young people. He is a former high school debate coach and as a management professional has served a diverse list of local, national and international clients since 1984.
