Who We Are
A World Youth Summit

THANK YOU to the students, parents, teachers, administrators, speakers, superintendents, law enforcement, judges, volunteers, and the City of Jackson MS for supporting the 2019 National Youth Summit on Education, Justice, and Leadership. It took each of you to make it a phenomenal experience.  Out of an abundance of caution, we held the 2020 National Youth Summit Virtually. Stay tuned for details of the hybrid 2021 NYS World Conference held virtually and, assuming control of the pandemic, at Alabama State University in Montgomery AL.

The National Youth Summit on Education, Justice, and Leadership is entering its seventh year of bringing together hundreds of talented students from cities across the United States, regardless of academic achievement or disciplinary record, to work with leading experts to enhance leadership skills, examine the school to prison pipeline, and create and implement ideas that enhance positive behaviors, rely on discipline-based on inherent strengths and focus on restorative justice. Students will be encouraged to pursue a resurgence of academic excellence, highly engaged educators, and exceptional expectations for themselves and those that serve them. We are all about leadership, hope, and success.

Among those continuing to make The NYS an outstanding experience are:

  • Local and national experts from universities, agencies, and business
  • Nationally acclaimed Keynote Speaker
  • Plenary speakers
  • National historic civil rights figures
  • Chaperones
  • A documentary prepared by the Department of Communications at Webster University
  • Educators
  • STEMM advocates
  • Optional tour of key sites in the host city
  • Opening reception with students, speakers, and nationally acclaimed civil rights figures
  • Participation of a local university
  • Law-enforcement
  • The judiciary

We look forward to hosting the 2021 summit in Montgomery, Alabama, home to many historic landmarks and museums, including Rosa Park’s historic bus ride.
