HALBERT SULLIVAN

Halbert Sullivan is the Founding President/CEO of Fathers’ Support Center St. Louis (FSC). Mr. Sullivan provides executive leadership, administrative oversight, and marketing and public relations support for FSC, and he ensures the integration of projects within the organization. Mr. Sullivan founded FSC in 1997, and the organization recently graduated its 104th class of fathers.

FSC promotes fathers’ involvement in their children’s lives through intensive job training, group therapy, community service, and parenting workshops. Since its inception, FSC has served more than 11,797 fathers and their families, transitioning nonparticipating fathers to a position of involvement and equity in the lives of over 29,000 children.

Mr. Sullivan has been widely recognized for his dedicated service, and including awards from the NAACP, the Missouri Association for Social Welfare, and the Governor of Missouri. In 2013 he received the President’s Call to Service Award, recognizing more than 4,000 hours of volunteer service. The National Partnership for Community Leadership has also honored Mr. Sullivan with the Charles A. Ballard Pioneer Award in Responsible Fatherhood, inducting him into the Spirit of Fatherhood Hall of Fame.

Mr. Sullivan has served as the Primary Investigator or Co-Investigator on several research projects, including Engaging Fathers in Positive Parenting, Family Formation & Employment Placement; Healthy Relationship Skills for Fragile Families; and currently the Parents and Children Together Reach Project conducted by Mathematica Policy Research in Washington, D.C.

Mr. Sullivan holds a Bachelor’s degree from Fontbonne University and a Master of Social Work from the George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis. He has been married to his wonderful wife, Jean, for over 21 years and is the father of four children, nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.
